What do you do when you’re not at CFA?
I like to be outdoors as much as possible whether it is going for a walk, hiking, rollerblading, snowboarding, etc. I am also constantly doing some sort of creative hobby and spend a lot of time with family and friends.
What do you do for a living?
I am a graphic designer at The Stow Company so I spend my days doing all different types of creative tasks for their brands.
How has your fitness changed since joining?
Since joining CrossFit, my fitness has changed in so many ways. There are so many movements I can do now that felt impossible when I first started, including rope climbs, pull-ups, double unders, toes-to-bar, handstand push-ups, and so much more. Beyond just new skills, CrossFit has made me genuinely excited to get to the gym and work out regularly.
When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you?
When I first started I had the mentality that I would just try CrossFit out for a short time, but I was quickly hooked and couldn’t get myself to leave. I loved how exciting it was to not know what to expect when I came to the gym and to leave having learned something new. I love the blend of strength, cardio, and skill and the community just makes everything that much better.
What movement do you despise over everything and why?
Wall balls. Breathing, I’m told, is key to lasting through a workout, and getting the wind knocked out of you every other second by a heavy ball makes that pretty hard. Power snatches are probably second.
What has been your all-time favorite moment at CFA? So many fun moments!
I’ve got to say the same thing Dom did. At Kate’s birthday party, Brian threw Dom and I off of the jet ski, and I don’t know if I have ever laughed so hard.

What motivates you during a tough workout?
I stay motivated by gratitude for the healthy body God has given me, by remembering the WODs I finished even when I didn’t think I could, and by the people around me who cheer me on.
What’s something about you that most people at the gym don’t know?
I love learning and am always up for a spontaneous adventure.
If you had to describe your CrossFit experience in one word, what would it be?
Uplifting
If you could write your own workout for a day, what would it be?
It would probably include running, rope climbs, and farmers carry. If you ask me next week it might be different though.
What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit?
I would recommend enjoying the process and letting go of the need for perfection. Learning new skills becomes so much fun when you don’t worry about being embarrassed or about getting every movement right immediately. Everyone at CrossFit was a beginner at some point, and the community is there to support you and cheer you on, not judge you.
If you could have one skill or characteristic of another member at CFA what and from whom would it be?
As someone who is not a morning person but goes to the gym in the morning, I would love to have Dom’s energy and joy even early in the morning. Also, I would love to have Ruby’s lung capacity to talk even while running.

Coaches’ Comment
Beka has been with us for a full year now and has set a great example of consistency, energy, and improvement since day one. Since starting CrossFit, she has gotten stronger and even faster, and has greatly improved her gymnastic skills. When she started, she didn’t know how to rope climb, kip, or do double-unders, but since then, she has improved vastly in all those skills. Beka is always up for a tough workout and a good challenge, with a positive attitude. This has made her a great part of our CFA community and our early morning 5:45 class. Keep up the great work, Beka—we’re excited to see your improvements in another year!
