What do you do when you’re not at CFA?
When I am not at CFA, I can usually be found spending time with my family or working. My husband and I stay busy with our 12 year old son’s sports and social life. We also have two very energetic dogs and a few chickens to tend to. As far as my day job, I have the privilege of truly enjoying my career as a mental health therapist.
What led you to Crossfit and CFA specifically?
During the pandemic I was working from home and really missed interacting with people. My husband, Mike, had started at CFA and suggested that I should try it. I was hooked!
When did you realize that CrossFit is right for you?
I realized that CrossFit was for me when I experienced the support and encouragement from everybody I came in contact with. It is also pretty great to just show up at the end of the day and not have to think.
What movement do you despise over everything and why?
The movement I despise over everything is BURPEES!
What has been your all-time favorite moment at CFA?
There are too many great moments to pick just one.
What motivates you during a tough workout?
During a tough workout, I find motivation in looking around and seeing everyone else pushing through right alongside me.
If you could write your own workout for a day, what would it be?
My workout would consist of a lot of different movements without burpees in descending order.
What are your goals going forward and what do you think will help you achieve them?
I want to continue to be active and strong as I age. I think I just need to stay consistent through the years.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness or just day to day life since starting CrossFit?
I love the strength that I have gained since starting CrossFit. I am the strongest I have ever been in and I am in my 40s!
What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit?
Just keep showing up!
If you could have one skill or characteristic of another member at CFA what and from whom would it be?
There are so many amazing and skilled members so I can’t possibly name them all!

Coach’s comment:
We are thankful that Kate decided to join us three years ago. She has made some amazing strides in her fitness since then. She has gotten faster, stronger and more mobile while continuing to build her endurance. Kate is somebody who always shows up and gives it her best, even if there are burpees in the workout. Recently she got her first ever rope climb and that was pretty awesome to see. Keep up the great work Kate, we are proud of you!
