What do you do when you’re not at CFA?
Coach lacrosse, hang out with my orange cat Riggy, cook, watch sports.
What do you do for a living?
Head women’s lacrosse coach at GVSU.

How has your fitness changed since joining?
I have been able to learn new skills and get so much better at them like wall handstands, wall walks, double unders and toes to bar.
When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you?
As a former college athlete, it was hard for me to figure out how to work out that gave me the same sense of accomplishment as a practice, lift and conditioning session would. CrossFit challenges me mentally and physically and at the end of most workouts, I feel like I emptied the tank completely. I also love competing with those around me and love the team environment.

What movement do you despise over everything and why?
I’m not a fan of pushups. It sounds so stupid out of everything that we do but I’ve never been good at them and they slow me down so much in the WOD’s.
What has been your all-time favorite moment at CFA? So many fun moments!
Kate’s birthday party when Brian purposely threw Beka and I off of the jet ski. I also love the partner workouts!

What motivates you during a tough workout?
I rely heavily on my faith and knowing that my pain is a blessing and I am strong enough. I get done and can celebrate what my body was able to accomplish that many people would never dream of.
What’s something about you that most people at the gym don’t know?
I’m extremely hard on myself and really struggle when I am not good at something.
If you had to describe your CrossFit experience in one word, what would it be?
Fulfilling
If you could write your own workout for a day, what would it be?
It would have running, box jumps or step ups, hang cleans, and maybe some wall walks, wall balls or AMSU.
I like doing workouts for time!
What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit?
The community is amazing and your body will thank you for pushing yourself. Show yourself some grace in the beginning and focus on your own progress.
If you could have one skill or characteristic of another member at CFA what and from whom would it be?
Leah’s cardio!!

Coaches’ Comment
Dom was an easy choice for December’s Member of the Month. Not only does she bring infectious high energy and an amazing vibe, but she has absolutely crushed it in the gym since joining us a year ago.
We’ve seen huge improvements across every aspect of her fitness: she’s gotten significantly stronger and faster, cleaned up her double-unders and toes-to-bar, and now nails handstand kick-ups against the wall with ease.
When she’s not training, Dom stays busy as the head coach of GVSU Women’s Lacrosse.
Any class Dom attends instantly gets a boost in fun and energy. We’re incredibly grateful to have her as part of the CFA family!
